Why does Dr. Tague use both nutritional treatments and medical weight loss?

Dr. Tague established the Center for Nutrition and Preventive Medicine in 1996 to provide "state of the art" medical weight loss and nutrition services. Since that time, the Center has provided nutritional treatments to several thousand patients. Most of these treatments have focused on the management of overweight conditions and related medical problems such as hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, and common eating disorders such as binge eating and carboydrate cravings.

How will Dr. Tague determine which approaches to recommend for me?

At the Center, Dr. Tague utilizes research-based nutritional and medical treatments for weight-related conditions . The methods used include the most effective, most natural methods that are founded on current research principles. Dr. Tague's training as a board certified bariatric physician is based on the research and teaching of experts in the fields of nutrition and bariatric medicine. Dr. Tague also lectures to public groups and to physicians on the important topic of managing obesity. Patients often comment on the benefits of Dr. Tague's treatments which utilize the latest approaches within highly individualized programs, designed especially for your needs.

Will I be evaluated for other metabolic, nutritional and hormonal abnormalities?

The Center for Nutrition and Preventive Medicine has a full range of laboratory services available. Frequently, hormone and metabolic disorders, which can contribute to weight gain, are diagnosed and treated. Managing these disorders, including thyroid deficiency, sex hormone deficiencies, nutritional imbalances, and insulin resistance, is integral to the Center's success with challenging weight loss cases.

Will appetite suppressants and/or an exercise program be recommended?

The Center is involved in ongoing research on the use of appetite suppressants in the context of a comprehensive weight management program. All patients are evaluated for the appropriateness of appetite suppressing medications. Activity guidance and individualized nutritional recommendations are always a part of the personalized instruction for improved health. Our physicians, nurses, nutritionists and dietitians are always available to our clients for nutritional and weight control counseling.
